End User License Agreement (EULA) – LuDioMiX

Last updated: October 23, 2026

1. General

This End User License Agreement (EULA) governs the use of the LuDioMiX software.

LuDioMiX is a software application that analyzes music in real time and automatically controls stage and event lighting through the DMX control protocol.

The software is developed and provided by Taidekehystämö S. Halttunen, Finland.

By installing or using LuDioMiX, the user agrees to the terms of this Agreement to the extent permitted by applicable law.

The purchase and payment of the software are also subject to the applicable terms of sale through Freemius.

2. Grant of License

LuDioMiX is proprietary, closed-source software.

Purchasing a paid license grants the user a perpetual, non-exclusive right to use the software in accordance with this Agreement.

The license is assigned to an individual user and allows activation on up to two devices. The second activation is primarily intended for a backup computer, for example during live performances.

The software may also be used simultaneously on both activated devices.

Purchasing a license does not transfer ownership of the software’s copyrights or other intellectual property rights to the user.

3. Commercial Use and Rental Services

Commercial use of LuDioMiX is permitted.

The software may be used for purposes including:

  • Concerts and live performances by bands and other performers.
  • Event production and professional lighting services.
  • Restaurants, clubs, and other entertainment venues.
  • Rental services involving lighting equipment and complete lighting control systems.

The license holder may rent a computer or lighting system with LuDioMiX installed and activated to a customer. The customer may use the software as part of that system for the duration of the rental period.

Rental activities do not permit the license holder to exceed the limit of two activated devices per license.

4. Free Trial

LuDioMiX offers a 30-day free trial.

During the trial period, users have access to all software features without functional limitations.

After the trial period expires, a valid paid license is required to start the automatic Live modes.

Settings, fixture configurations, and projects created during the trial period are retained. Users can continue using them after activating a paid license.

The free trial does not automatically convert into a paid subscription.

5. License Validity and Verification

A paid LuDioMiX license is purchased through a one-time payment and grants a perpetual right to use the purchased major version of the software.

The software operates normally without a continuous internet connection.

License validity is periodically verified through an internet connection as follows:

  • A standard license verification is performed every 30 days.
  • If verification cannot be completed, an additional 30-day grace period is provided.
  • The software can operate without a new successful verification for a total of up to 60 days after the last successful license verification.
  • If verification has not been completed within this period, new Live modes cannot be started until verification succeeds.

Expiration of the license verification period will not interrupt a lighting show that is already running.

A temporary loss of internet connectivity does not terminate the perpetual license. However, technical verification of the license may be required before the software’s Live functions can be resumed.

6. License Transfer and Resale

Users may transfer their LuDioMiX license from one computer to another.

Permanent resale or transfer of the license to another person is permitted.

When a license is permanently transferred:

  • The original license holder must stop using the software under that license.
  • The original user must deactivate their devices and transfer the license to the new owner.
  • The new owner receives the right to activate the software on up to two devices.
  • The transfer must comply with applicable law and the required license management procedures.

Users experiencing technical difficulties with license transfers may contact LuDioMiX customer support.

7. Software Updates

A one-time LuDioMiX license includes updates released for the purchased major version at no additional charge.

For example, a LuDioMiX 1.x license holder receives subsequently released updates within the same major version free of charge.

Future major releases, such as a possible LuDioMiX 2.0, may be offered as separately paid upgrades.

The release of a new paid major version does not terminate the user’s right to continue using a previously purchased major version.

The developer does not commit to releasing a specific number of new features or major versions.

This provision does not limit consumers’ rights to necessary software and security updates under applicable law.

8. Technical Support

A paid LuDioMiX license includes six months of personal technical assistance starting from the purchase date.

Technical assistance is provided by email at:

ludiomix@gmail.com

Assistance covers questions relating to the installation, configuration, and use of the LuDioMiX software.

No specific response time is guaranteed.

The developer may continue to provide assistance after the initial six-month period, but personal assistance beyond that period is not included in the contractual support commitment.

The duration of technical support does not limit the user’s statutory rights in cases of software defects or non-conformity.

9. Intended Use

LuDioMiX is intended for controlling stage and event lighting and smoke machines.

The software analyzes incoming audio signals and automatically generates lighting brightness, colors, movements, and other lighting effects based on the music.

The software is designed to be accessible to users without previous experience in DMX lighting programming.

However, LuDioMiX does not replace proper fixture installation, manufacturers’ operating instructions, or any specialized knowledge that may be required for the safe operation of equipment.

The software is not intended for controlling pyrotechnic devices, flame effects, CO₂ cannons, or other similarly hazardous special effects. Using LuDioMiX with such devices is not recommended.

10. Lighting and Equipment Safety

The user must ensure that all equipment connected to LuDioMiX is installed, connected, and configured safely.

In particular, the user must:

  • Follow the manufacturers’ instructions for lighting fixtures and other equipment.
  • Ensure that lighting fixtures are securely mounted and electrical installations are safe.
  • Define permitted movement ranges for moving-head fixtures.
  • Test the lighting system before a performance.
  • Ensure that fixtures and their movements do not create hazards for performers or the audience.
  • Consider the potential health risks associated with strobe lighting and other rapidly flashing light effects.

LuDioMiX provides functions that allow users to restrict the movement ranges of moving-head fixtures and disable strobe effects.

These functions do not replace the equipment’s own safety systems.

11. Use of Lasers

LuDioMiX can control compatible DMX-controlled laser devices.

Laser operation must be explicitly enabled in the software’s fixture settings. Without this configuration, LuDioMiX does not activate lasers.

Laser movement ranges are based on limits configured by the user.

LuDioMiX does not include a dedicated laser radiation safety monitoring system.

All applicable laser safety regulations and equipment manufacturers’ instructions must be followed.

In particular:

  • Software-defined movement limits alone do not guarantee safe laser beam positioning.
  • Laser output power and potential audience exposure must be assessed separately.
  • Independent safety measures and emergency shutdown systems must be implemented as required by the equipment and applicable regulations.
  • The software’s Blackout function or DMX dimmer does not replace a proper laser safety shutter or other suitable beam termination system.

LuDioMiX is not intended to function as an independent laser radiation safety system.

12. Smoke Machine Operation

LuDioMiX can control compatible DMX-controlled smoke machines.

Smoke output is controlled using a button that must be held down while smoke production is required. Releasing the button stops the smoke output control command during normal software operation.

The user must ensure safe operation of the smoke machine and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

The behavior of a smoke machine in the event of a DMX connection failure depends on the equipment and its configuration.

13. Audio Signal and Automatic Lighting

LuDioMiX generates its automatic lighting show by continuously analyzing an incoming audio signal.

If the audio signal is lost, the software automatically switches to dim stage lighting during normal operation.

The lighting scenes generated by the software depend on factors including the music, audio signal quality, user settings, and connected lighting fixtures.

Specific lighting events or particular artistic results cannot be guaranteed in every operating environment.

14. Blackout and System Failures

LuDioMiX includes a Blackout function that allows the user to send an immediate shutdown command to the lighting fixtures controlled by the software.

Blackout is a software-based function and is not a certified emergency stop system.

If the software crashes, the computer shuts down, or the DMX connection is lost, the behavior of the lighting fixtures depends on the DMX equipment and fixture settings.

Some devices may retain their last lighting state, while others may switch off.

The user must verify how their equipment behaves in the event of a control connection failure.

LuDioMiX must not be used as the sole safety system in situations where a control failure could cause personal injury or another hazardous condition.

15. Software Modification and Intellectual Property Rights

The copyrights and other intellectual property rights relating to LuDioMiX belong to their respective rights holders.

Without permission from the rights holder, users may not:

  • Modify the software’s source code.
  • Create modified versions of the software.
  • Distribute unauthorized copies of the software.
  • Unlawfully remove or circumvent license management mechanisms or technical usage restrictions.

These restrictions apply only to the extent permitted by mandatory applicable law.

Users may freely create, modify, and share their own fixture profiles, project files, and settings, provided that such sharing does not infringe the rights of others.

16. Liability and Software Operation

LuDioMiX is an automatic lighting control application whose operation also depends on external equipment, the computer, operating system, audio signal, and DMX connections.

The developer aims to provide reliable software, but completely uninterrupted or error-free operation cannot be guaranteed in all hardware and operating environments.

The user is responsible for the proper installation, equipment configuration, and safe operation of their lighting system.

The developer’s liability may be limited only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Nothing in this Agreement excludes or restricts mandatory consumer rights or any liability for damages or product-related harm that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

17. Termination of License

A perpetual paid license does not expire solely due to the passage of time, the release of new software versions, or the end of the personal technical support period.

If the purchase price of the software is refunded in full, the paid license associated with that purchase terminates in accordance with the Refund Policy.

The user must discontinue using the license associated with the refunded purchase.

Any termination of license rights or consequences of contractual breaches are subject to applicable law.

18. Statutory Consumer Rights

This Agreement does not limit the consumer’s statutory rights.

Depending on applicable law, consumers may have rights relating to software defects, updates, contract termination, and compensation for damages.

The terms relating to refunds are described separately in the LuDioMiX Refund Policy.

If any provision of this Agreement conflicts with mandatory consumer protection law, the applicable mandatory legal provisions will prevail.

19. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of Finland, unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise.

This choice of law does not deprive consumers residing in other countries of the protection afforded by mandatory consumer protection laws of their country of residence where such laws apply.

Any disputes should first be addressed through good-faith negotiations.

Nothing in this Agreement restricts a consumer’s right to bring proceedings before courts having jurisdiction under applicable law or to use other statutory remedies.

20. Changes to This Agreement

LuDioMiX may update this Agreement, for example, in response to changes in legislation, software functionality, or sales practices.

Updated terms apply to new license agreements from their effective date.

Material terms of previously purchased perpetual licenses will not be changed unilaterally to the user’s disadvantage without a valid contractual or legal basis.
